			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Lately it seems my life is consumed with pitching to investors. I&#8217;m not pitching personally, but I&#8217;ve been talking to a lot of people who are, and I&#8217;ve worked on a few pitch decks for clients in the last month or so. It&#8217;s been interesting.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s also made me think. Why pitch? Why take investment at all?</p>
<p>What&#8217;s good about taking investments:</p>
<ul>
<li>Yay money!</li>
<li>When we have money we can spend money strategically, whether that&#8217;s on marketing, development, infrastructure, or whatever.</li>

He took us through a recent project (for a client) to build a Excel plug-in which connected to a third party.  Didn&#8217;t really go into complexity, wonder if the same approach would work with a larger team.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A little while ago, I wrote about “<a href="http://exploringuncertainty.com/blog/archives/511">testing backwards</a>”. In her comments, Savita pointed out that when testing backwards, I was actually doing exploratory testing. This is true; though it might be more accurate to say that I was using types of reasoning that tend to be more common in exploratory testing than in “testing forwards”.</p>
<p>When we test forwards we tend to rely heavily on <strong><em>deduction</em></strong>, i.e. predicting a result based on a rule. There are other forms of reasoning: <strong><em>induction</em></strong> and <strong><em>abduction</em></strong>.
