Lately I’ve been realizing that I’ve been doing/reading/following/watching/etc. too much stuff. As a result, I don’t feel like I have the focus that I’ve had in the past. As I approach the end of one year and the beginning of a new one I think it might be worth it to try and do something about that. I would also like to couple that with an approach that a friend of mine champions, the idea of “do it now” (in fact, he even named his company with that acronym).

I’m about to go on vacation and won’t be regularly checking in to my work email. As I’m looking to get my inbox down, I notice that I get a fair amount of spam email but I don’t do anything about it. This week I’ve started to opt out of receiving those emails using the small print links at the bottom of those emails. That and a few outlook rules are the start of my efforts to get the amount of email in my inbox down. Winding down to the end of the year I’ll be looking for other things to start cutting back on.
